Polarimetric Enhancement of Pixel Candidates Selection in Per- sistent Scatterers Interferometry

چکیده
This work is aimed to present a general method for using the polarimetric information provided by new satellite SAR sensors in order to improve the performance of persistent scatterers interferometry (PSI). PSI methods select for processing only those pixels that are considered as a priori reliable under certain stability criterion. The method proposed in this paper aims to increase the number of pixel candidates by means of exploitation of polarimetric information. The approach has been formulated for two different criteria of selection: the average coherence over the stack of interferograms, and the amplitude dispersion index of the stack of images. First experimental results obtained with dual-pol images acquired by TerraSAR-X over the metropolitan area of Murcia (Spain) have confirmed the expected improvement.

On the Selection Criteria for Pixel Candidates in Psi: Potentials of Polarimetry
In this paper we demonstrate some benefits of using polarimetric data in persistent scatterers interferometry (PSI). A polarimetric optimization approach is applied to TerraSAR-X dual-pol data, leading to a significant increase in the number of persistent scatterer candidates (PSCs) selected by the most commonly used criteria of quality, namely the amplitude dispersion index and the average int...

In this paper, the application of polarimetric optimization techniques for Differential SAR Interferometry (DInSAR) applications is studied. The objective of the proposed techniques is to increase the number of temporal coherent scatterers, improving thus the robustness of the DInSAR algorithms exploiting the polarimetric capabilities of data. The relationship between optimum coherences or ampl...

This paper presents a general method for using the polarimetric information provided by new satellite sensors in order to improve the performance of PSI methods. Satellite PSI is widely used to obtain accurate maps of the Earth’s surface deformation along time, selecting for processing only those points that are considered as a priori reliable under certain quality criterion, generally known as...
متن کاملA New Method for Selecting Coherent Scatterers Based on Their Polarimetric Signature
Persistent Scatterers (PS) technique is a useful modification of InSAR that limits interferometric processing only to those pixels that behave consistently over a long period of time. Usually these pixels are selected by setting a threshold on amplitude dispersion or mean coherence. This approach requires a large number of images in order to select PS with high confidence which can be a signifi...
متن کاملPolarimetric Interferomtry
SAR polarimetry makes use of the polarization dependent scattering response of each pixel within the imaged area. The polarimetric response is highly sensitive to the scattering mechanism of a pixel. SAR interferometry is sensitive to the location of a pixel and its scattering geometry. The location of a pixel can be measured by the phase difference between two coherent SAR images using SAR int...
